Ma Long has always presented himself as a strong opponent in men’s table tennis. But he hasn’t conquered the World Championships just yet. After four times, Ma Long still hasn’t reach the finals. This year, he will participate again and this time, it seems that his chances are looking well. In fact, he himself feels optimistic for the competition.

As one of the strongest and most talented players in men’s table tennis, it’s not hard to imagine [[Ma Long]] winning in every world competition. However, this has remained still an imagination until now.
In three occasions, Ma Long reached the semifinals and met [[Wang Hao]]. Also in all those occasions, Ma Long lost. But now, Wang Hao has already retired and therefore not in the competition. This could somehow increase his chances in progressing to the finals.

Aside from that, Ma Long will be playing in front of his home country this year which is something that always boost his confidence. In the several seasons of the Suzhou World Tour Open, Ma Long has won the championship title.
Lastly, after winning over [[Zhang Jike]] in the German Open finals, Ma Long said that his confidence in winning this time has increased.

Aside from those, Ma Long also feels optimistic for this year’s competition.
“I wasn’t able to participate ten years ago in Shanghai. Now, it will be held in China again and I can have the opportunity to compete in a world competition in this kind of atmosphere, which is very different in Europe. This time, the audience will be cheering for me and this feeling is extremely strong.” Ma Long said.
