We’re currently seeing the blossoming of individual adoption of “disunified” comms services, like Snapchat and WhatsApp. To me, this is still the comms equivalent of the 1980s home computing movement. These are the Amigas and Atari STs that only hint at what’s about to come. Apps stores are just the new floppy discs, taking out friction from software distribution.

The slower pace of the cycles in comms compared to computing can blind us to the magnitude of the changes underway.
