Firefighter/Paramedic Tom Keene been promoted to the rank of captain at Snohomish County Fire District 1.
Captains are responsible for supervising shift personnel at the fire station level – overseeing a crew of three to five firefighters.
Keene has been assigned to Hilltop Fire Station 22 east of Lynnwood. He began his career in 1989 as a resident firefighter and emergency medical technician at Washington State University in Pullman. He completed his paramedic training at Northern Virginia Community College in Fairfax in 1992. He returned to Washington and over the next 14 years worked as a paramedic, flight paramedic and operations supervisor of emergency medical services (EMS) in Wenatchee.
Keene joined Snohomish County Fire District 1 in 2006. He is a rescue technician, an EMS instructor, acting medical services officer and EMS quality assurance committee member.
