German woman Annegret Raunigk said she was shocked by the pregnancy, according to reports.
After going through artificial insemination several times, Raunigk became pregnant with four embryos.
Raunigk was shocked but never considered reducing the number of embryos, AFP reported.
"After the doctor discovered there were four, I had to give it some thought to begin with," she said.
The grandmother of seven says she feels fine and the pregnancy has not had any major complications, RTL reported.
When the babies are born Raunigk will become the oldest mother of quadruplets in history, according to the AFP.
