León - About 10 years ago a group of faithful of a Spanish parish in Madrid traveled to the city of León, Nicaragua. They met malnourished children and families with problems related to alcohol. Faced with this situation they started to help the local priest and two lay collaborators in the pastoral initiatives and to give food to children in need. Once back in Spain, they decided to create the "Pan de Vida para Nicaragua" Association, consisting of 100 members who through markets, theatrical performances, small initiatives, raise funds for the children of Nicaragua. Currently there are 180 children who eat in the soup kitchen in León every day; 25 attend a day school in order to give support to working mothers and another 110 attend secondary school.
