AFRICA/EGYPT - The Coptic Church supports the government in the fight against illiteracy

Cairo - The Department of the Coptic Orthodox Church in charge of services and social activities, signed the protocol of the national project on Friday, March 27 to combat illiteracy prepared by the Egyptian government: this is what Egyptian sources consulted by Agenzia Fides report. The protocol was signed at the patriarchal residence, in the presence of Coptic Patriarch Tawadros II and Bishop Ioannis, responsible for social welfare initiatives of the Coptic Orthodox Church. At the signing, political representatives and academics particularly involved in educational programs were also present.
